RAM

The RAM, or random access memory, stores data that is currently being used. It provides additional space to interpret temporary data improving the performance of a computer.

The data stored within the RAM is only when the computer is on; it is lost when the computer is turned off. This makes it ideal for running applications as it is much faster than permanent data storage. DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5 are the most popular types of RAM.
